About WLIFE
Discover the world through wildlife photography.
Wildlife Photography. Extraordinary Stories. Epic Expeditions.
Our mission
Inspire. Educate. Explore.
Three words that set the bar for every story we publish: it should move you, teach you something you can use in the field, and make you want to go.
What WLIFE is
WLIFE is an international editorial brand for serious amateur, enthusiast and professional wildlife photographers. We publish the images worth stopping for, the stories behind them and the practical knowledge that gets you closer to your own: where to go, when to be there, what to carry and how to behave once you arrive.
WLIFE is not a personal portfolio. It is a magazine in the old sense of the word, a place where many photographers’ work is gathered, credited and set in context, edited by people who care about the craft and the animals in equal measure.
What we cover
Our coverage is organised into a small number of recurring desks, each with its own editorial brief.
- News — Competitions, exhibitions, industry announcements and the stories shaping wildlife photography.
- Photographers — Profiles, portfolios and conversations with the people behind the frames.
- Behind the Shot — How a single extraordinary image was made: the wait, the light, the settings, the decisions.
- Gear & Fieldcraft — Field-tested equipment guides and the technique that turns gear into pictures.
- Destinations — Where to photograph the world's wildlife, season by season.
- Safaris & Expeditions — Photographic journeys built around photographers, not tourists.
- Photo of the Week — One frame, chosen every week, with the story of how it came to be.
- Conservation — The species, habitats and people that wildlife photography exists to protect.
How we work
Editorial independence. Our recommendations, rankings and reviews are decided by editors, not by advertisers, affiliate programmes or partners. Commercial relationships never buy a place in our pages.
Fact-checking. Species names, locations, dates, seasons, prices and technical claims are checked against primary sources before publication. When we cannot verify a detail we say so, or we leave it out. Corrections are made openly; see our editorial standards.
Image rights. Every photograph on WLIFE is published with the permission of its copyright holder or under an open licence, and every image carries a credit naming the photographer, the source and the licence. The full attribution record lives on our image credits page.
Human approval before publication. AI tools may assist our team with research, transcription and early drafting. They do not publish. Every piece that appears on WLIFE is reviewed, edited and approved by a human editor, and AI-generated imagery is never presented as documentary wildlife photography.
How we make money
WLIFE is free to read. To keep it that way we earn revenue in a small number of transparent ways, each of them disclosed where it appears.
- Affiliate links. When you buy equipment through a link in our gear guides we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Links are marked, and the full policy is on our affiliate disclosure page.
- Partnerships. We work with a limited number of brands, operators and organisations whose products and trips we would recommend regardless. Partner content is labelled as such.
- Sponsored content. Always disclosed, always under editorial control, never a paid review. See the media kit for how we work with partners.
- Digital products. Field guides, checklists and other downloads are in preparation. Follow progress on the guides and downloads page.
